TDI faculty offer research tutorials in Transition Design and systems thinking to groups working on their own projects.
TDI faculty and researchers are available to provide tutorials for outside research teams looking to integrate a more systemic approach into their work. Whether teams seek to incorporate principles of Transition Design or apply aspects of the Transition Design approach to research and analysis, these tutorials offer structured guidance and support. Similar to the tutoring provided in the Nourish Canada project, these sessions help teams refine their methodologies, engage stakeholders more effectively, and integrate systems thinking into their research.
Current Collaboration
TDI is currently working with a research group in Newfoundland, Canada, exploring the wicked problem of materials insecurity in Nova Scotia. These interactions include regular meetings with project organizers to advise on workshop preparation, template development, facilitation strategies, and data processing methods. By collaborating in this way, research teams gain hands-on experience in structuring transition-oriented research and leveraging systems thinking to understand complex challenges.
Collaborative Learning and Impact
TDI tutorials serve as an important collaborative mechanism for evolving the Transition Design approach. As community representatives, researchers, and nonprofits integrate TD tools into their work, they refine and adapt them to fit specific cultural and place-based contexts. This iterative process strengthens the methodology while fostering locally relevant applications.
