TDI has delivered dozens of online workshops to educators, community groups, nonprofits, and industry groups.
The Transition Design Institute offers customized online workshops for organizations and groups seeking to build capacity for systems change. These workshops are not open to individuals and are tailored to the goals, context, and needs of each organization. Conducted via Zoom and Miro, they provide a collaborative and highly interactive format for exploring wicked problems and systemic challenges. TDI has facilitated these sessions with partners in the US, Mexico, Australia, Argentina, the UK, Canada, and Italy. Formats range from short intensives to multi-week engagements.
Workshops are offered in two formats: one integrates theoretical frameworks with applied practice; the other is shorter and focused entirely on applied systems change.
Foundations of Systems Change Workshop
These multi-session workshops combine conceptual frameworks with hands-on application. Participants engage with key ideas from Transition Design—including systems thinking, wicked problems, and long-term transitions—through short lectures, readings, and group discussion. These foundations are then applied in collaborative exercises that include mapping problem spaces, analyzing stakeholder dynamics, and envisioning long-term futures. This format is ideal for groups seeking both a deep conceptual understanding and practical methods for designing systemic interventions.
Applied Systems Change Workshop
These shorter-format workshops are focused on applied systems change. Designed for groups ready to work directly with a specific issue or context, sessions guide participants through key steps of the Transition Design approach: mapping wicked problems, identifying leverage points, analyzing stakeholder relationships, and developing ecologies of systemic solutions. These intensives are action-oriented and designed to provide participants with a practical approach within a compressed time frame.
